Sikkim, one of the tiny states of India, is in full bloom in spring. This is the period when it receives maximum tourists. Sun rays falling on the mighty Himalayas with its snow capped peaks, rivulets meandering in the valley and the pines and rhododendrons growing in abundance across the state, provide a scenic beauty to the visitors. The state is rich in flora and fauna, ranging from tropical to temperate, alpine and tundra species.
Last year in spring, we visited Sikkim and traveled to Gangtok, Yumthang Valley and Lachung. Gangtok, its capital city, is the center of Buddhist culture with several prominent monasteries. It is also home to various flower shows and exhibitions. At one such flower exhibition, i saw that several flower saplings were being arranged and carried to various nurseries.
