Twin Peaks in San Francisco

Twin Peaks San Francisco

This is the shot of the Twin Peaks in San Francisco. If you want to have the bird’s eye view of the sprawling San Francisco city including Golden Gate Bridge, you must not miss scheduling this spot in your itinerary. Twin Peaks boulevard makes an impressive figure of numeric eight around this place. I was able to capture this symmetrical figure of one of the peaks. More photos of Symmetry here.

From Twin Peaks, you can see the Market Street and at the far end of the street, you will be able to see the famous Ferry Terminal Building of San Francisco. Interestingly, beneath these hills, the Metro train system of San Francisco, Muni, runs connecting the downtown and the western labyrinth of the city.

San Francisco City from Twin Peaks

How to Reach Twin Peaks: The economical and best way to explore San Francisco city is to use its extensive public transport system called Muni. If you are closer to the downtown area, hop on to the Metro train to reach Twin Peaks. Take either L-line train going to Taraval or K-line going to Ingleside, or M-line going to Ocean View. All these trains will stop at Forest Hill train station. Once you come out of the Metro Station, catch the bus no. 37. Bus stop is right outside the station. Last stop of the bus is at the foot of the Twin Peaks. An uphill walk on the wooden steps take you to the point where you hit the road. This is the place where most tourist and private vehicles will drop you, if you opt for a taxi. But your target should be to climb the two hillocks which are actually the Twin Peaks. A short climb on the hill will show you the magical view of the city.

    • Thanks a lot Jane. Twin Peaks is really an amazing place. Before coming to SFO, i had seen about it in one of the movies. And thats how came to know about it. For this shot, i was standing on one of the hills and it was very breezy then. I was lucky enough to capture these shots. 🙂

  8. This is an excellent take on the photo challenge, Suyash 🙂

The idea behind this innovative figure eight pattern should really be appreciated, right?

Seems, there are steps leading to the top of the hill as well, did you try that one?

    • Thanks Sreejith for your lovely words.

O yes, there were steps leading to the top and i went there. Clicked some shots. Roamed around. It was quite breezy over there though. But a amazing view. This figure is eight is really incredible when you see it from top of the peak. I wish i had ‘captured’ 360 view of the place to show 8 😉
