Rainbow on the Streets of Singapore

Visitors are greeted by this man-made rainbow on the streets of Singapore during the Indian festival of Diwali around the months of October & November. When you are in Singapore during this time, you must not miss taking a stroll in the Little India neighborhood. Streets are beautifully draped in the bright colors, often resembling the splendid peacock.

Apart from so many lights and colors of festivities, this is a good place for value shopping, including your favorite electronic goods in Mustafa Market. When you are hungry, there are a number of good Indian restaurants. I stayed in this neighborhood in October of 2012 when i visited Singapore for a week. You will find plenty of budget hostels and hotels in this area. It is not very far from most of the attractions of Singapore and well connected by metro trains. (More photos and details of Esplanade and Theaters on the Bay here) To reach Little India, hop on the metro train and get down at Little India metro station.

      I have not been to any in Twin Cities. But I have been around Richfield and Bloomington. Surabhi in Bloomington is a good one. They serve good buffet over weekends and weekdays as well- lot of items and good too. You may try Persis in Eagan as well, which has good non-vegetarian dishes.

      Yes, This area has few famous South Indian restaurants. Even I had food in one of these restaurants. Did you visit Singapore in recent years? Probably time to visit again during the festival time 🙂
