A traveler’s muse is often the new places and cities he visits. And so is mine. At the slightest mention of a trip to a new city or place, I get super charged. I start imagining about the place, do research and plan my trip. To ensure that my trip becomes memorable, I click as many photographs as possible at different locations. One of the best methods for me to see a city is on foot. I walk as much as possible, exploring the length and breadth of a city, soaking up the spirit of the place. My best walking experiences have occurred on the cobblestone streets of Toledo (Spain) and Guanajuato (Mexico). Both cities have very picturesque cobblestone streets.

Traveling in the public transport enables me to know the local culture and life much better, and often strike interesting conversation. These interactions make my life enriched and let me have countless stories and experiences. My mantra in any new place is to live like a local and hence, most often my preferred mode of accommodation is hostels where i can meet fellow travelers from across the globe.

    suyash! I couldn’t agree more on doing prior research and covering by foot! these two will surely extract more out of trip!

    By the way, he black & white Toledo picture is quite interesting while Guanajuato picture stands out with striking colors of house!

    Kolkata is beautiful in every corner, almost every old rock or building is picturesque, and you have two beautiful bridges, need one ask for more? 🙂

    Do visit during pujo, it is riot of colours! 😀

      Thanks a lot dear. You must start visiting these places then, beginning with those closer to your home. There is nothing better than traveling and seeing new places and meeting strangers. It’s so much fun. I am glad that my photos have been able to trigger your thoughts 😉

      Great Mallee. Kolkata is kind of cultural capital of India. Rich Rabindra Sangeet (music), dance forms and artistic expressions. You will get the glimpse of Colonial (British) era as it was the former capital of India during British rule. So, you will find several buildings of that era. Best time to visit Kolkata is during Dussehra Festival, or Puja time as fondly called by local Bengalis. It happens in the month of October and is celebrated for 10 days. City is beautifully lit up and there is song and dance everywhere in the air. Since Kolkata is also known as City of Joy, this is one of the best time to experience the spirit of city. And when you are in this city, don’t forget to taste the sweets / desserts of this place, especially Rosogulla, Sandesh and Chumchum. Plus, so many dish made of fish.

      This city has its own charm. Local streets are so full of people always. This means there is enormous opportunity to do street photography. People will always oblige you to pose themselves. And they are really very peace-loving people. I would kind of compare them with Spanish speakers who are always jolly, fun and immersed in music and dance and art forms.

      Thanks Helen. I completely agree with you. It’s may be coz in photos we just see a part of the real place whereas our naked eyes see everything. So, in photo we concentrate over a point but through eyes, we keep glancing scene by scene, hardly fixing ourselves to a point or a part.

      I have often thought about this and came up with this theory.

      No, I haven’t tried any yet. My husband’s grandnephew is here and I am busy to re-adjust my life. We haven’t had a young person living in the house for more than 10 years. 😉
