3-Day 3-Quote Challenge: Day 2

If you cannot fly then run

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

– Martin Luther King Jr.

I read this quote last year somewhere and realized this is ultimately the essence of life. And travel too. Let whatever happen in life, life simply goes on. There could be crests and troughs on the seas but the captain of the ship has to ensure that his ship keeps sailing. He cannot get back to the shore or port.

And when this quote is applied in the context of traveling, it becomes much more inspirational. Travelling is experienced to the fullest when done as a backpacker. Why should we always fly? We can cross borders by road as well. Best experiences and stories are created when we travel in foreign lands like locals – in public transport. Nothing better than walking on foot as well. For me, with a camera in hand, there is nothing more creative than walking the city and capturing the history of monuments, or the smiles of children, or the colors of the street in my lens. You can take a pause at one place, savoring the local delicacies and hospitality but ultimately one must keep exploring new destinations and milestones.

  2. I agree. Mainly because I don’t think you have a choice. Life moves on whether you like it or not, it doesn’t stop for anybody so it’s better to just accept it and move forward along with it..go with the flow 🙂

    • Exactly. Even if you don’t know to swim, when you are in a river, you simply have to go with the flow of the river, else you will be drowned. You cannot stop 🙂
