About

I am a passionate student of life, who believes in “Drink Life to its Lees” (by Lord Alfred Tennyson in the poem Ulysses ).

I am the co-founder of Non-Profit Organization – Aashayein Foundation @aashayein, which i started along with school friends in 2007 with an objective to provide education to underprivileged children. I consider that this NGO has been one of the turning points as well as one of the major milestones of my life.  I have enjoyed working here, i have met so many of my friends here. Seeing the tears in the eyes of these children and their not-so-good situation make me emotional. And this also drives me to work more with more commitment and dedication for this cause. At the end of the day, when i find smiles of these children, i feel so satisfied and happy in my life. This, i believe, has been the biggest reward of my life. I am very thankful to God who has given me enough strength, physical ability and acumen to do this work.

During my school days, i always enjoyed studying geography. Reading maps and identifying various countries, cities and places of importance on the globe and map was one of my favorite pastimes. I used to enjoy the photos of various cultures and countries in my books. Being a keen quizzer, by the time i had passed out of my school, i had known the capital cities and other major cities of almost all the countries of the world. These were important factors of my life which sparked the curiosity in me for traveling and exploring countries and their cities. Now whenever i get an opportunity to travel, i get excited like a child. In fact, if i spend more number of days and months without travel, i feel a sense of restlessness in me. I have now started believing in this thought that i am not going to measure my life by the number of years i live but i will measure my life by the number of countries i will see in my lifetime.

In this expedition of travel, i am so fortunate to have my wife as my biggest supporter and contributor. Both of us are always planning for our next trip and next country. Our wish is to see all the countries by the time we are on our death-bed.

Classic English literature fascinated me always in school. That is when in high school, i wrote my first poem. My love for writing took off then. I have been now writing more regularly since 2010 when i opened my account on wordpress. Thanks WordPress for introducing me to the beautiful world of blogs.

As a researcher in the area of business and management, i have authored more than a dozen technical papers for conferences across the globe. You can read my ideas in these papers at IEEE Xplore digital library, Google Scholar and the conference proceedings. I also worked as the editor of a newsletter in my previous organization where i used manage its publication, and contributed regularly to the newsletter. I an a regular contributor to various online blogs like Eat.Drink.Dish Minneapolis, Minneapolis Northwest, Software Excellence Process Group (SEPG) Conference, and 21st Century Norbert Wiener.

I was introduced to the beautiful world of photography during my first date with my wife. Venue of our date was neither a coffee shop, nor a restaurant, a theater or a park. Interestingly, it was a historical monument where she showed me a different color of life. And that day, i was hooked to two things in my life – my wife and photography. Sometimes jokingly, my wife reminds tells me that my camera has substituted her as my first wife because wherever i go, i make it a point to take the camera along.

I would share some more facets of my life at some later point. I would love to know more about you as well. Hence, feel free to share about yourself and your thoughts in this space.

    • Glad that you like my blogs. Thanks.

I must tell you Mexico has got a very bad name in the media about its safety and all. But that’s not all true. Barring few areas if Mexico, which are more closer to USA borders, rest of Mexico – the touristy part- is pretty safe. We never had a problem anywhere. Public transport like metro and buses are pretty good. One thing I can tell you is that in every part of the world, there will be good and some bad people. One just needs to be little cautious and alert, which I am sure most of are. Coming from India, I think , we all are used to how to take care of ourselves.

Go and plan out your trip to Mexico. You are find more details in mg blog: A trip in the making in Mexico page. 🙂

    • Thanks Babita for your nice words. They motivate me to travel more and more. Most of the time, I travel countries like a backpacker on frugal budget and try to meet locals, know their culture, spend time with them and do photography. Now that you are in USA, you must explore and travel as much as possible. Try visiting countries of Central and South America where your USA visa is good to go. My wife and i will plan to travel these countries, mostly from 2015 end. I must tell you traveling countries is not an expensive affair if you plan well.

Have a good time in USA and enjoy fall colors and harsh winter, as it will be your first snow in USA.
